Hi friends, I wanted to share a technique that I have just came across, while chatting to some crafting friends over on the Creative Team. I’ve never thought of trying this before and I’m so happy with the results.
To make my card I got out my gelli plate and brayer, used Acrylic Paints in Oranges, yellow and Mixing White. I love adding texture to my prints so got out some bubble wrap and dabbed some texture using the mixing white. Pulled my print on Sheena Douglas Stamping Card 300gsm. There is lots of videos on YouTube showing how to use a gelli plate.
I set aside to dry and once completely dry I popped my print into my inkjet printer face down and printed Background 4 of Honeycomb Backgrounds onto my white card. Then I layered onto black cardstock and mounted onto 5”x7” Kraft card base.
I printed off the scene from Sweet Like Honey and coloured in with my Promarkers using
Ice Grey 5,3,1
I had printed off the scene twice so I could fussy cut them both and layer ontop each other. Then put some foam tape on the back to add dimension to all the bees and the honeycomb. I printed off the sentiment and used the stencil designed by Angie Blom (BeeCandy) to create honeycombs over my sentiment. I blended Ripe Persimmon and Mustard Seed Distress Ink. Layered onto black card and added foam tape to adhere.
Here’s my completed card. What do you think. I’m in love with the fact I can now make my own prints then run them through my printer 🥰❤️
That’s all from me today. I would love to know your comments. Thanks for stopping by and take care ❤️. Kirsty
Hello, I’ve been thinking recently of starting to get my Christmas cards started especially as we are at the end of April, I mean whoa!! 😱😳 I think this year is going by soooo quickly!! So today I made a really quick card. Read on for more details….
I have used a green scalloped card base measuring 5” x 7”. The candy cane background is digital papers from Polka Dot Orchard which I printed onto photographic card. The adorable sock monkey, sentiment and stocking is also from Polka Dot Orchard. I printed them onto papermill direct smooth gsm white card.
I used my Promarkers to colour sock monkey and stocking.
Ice Grey 5,4,3,2,1
I used glue pen to apply glitter to stocking and hat then sprinkled Nuvo Pure Sheen Glitter. Added some Christmas green ribbon, added foam tape to sentiment, sock monkey, stocking and embellishments. Here is my finished card.
I am adding this card into the Spring into Christmas Hop over at Build Your Stash Holiday Cardmakers. I’d love to see what Christmas makes you have started on.
Stay safe, thanks for joining me and happy crafting
Hello and welcome. I’m so happy as Scotland is opening its shops today as lockdown is easing further. I’m glad as I can now meet friends and family now, even go out for a coffee. Very excited.
I’ve got a quick card to show you so let’s jump right in.
I printed the digital floral stamp and chose the sentiment I think of you often for my card and printed them both of onto same card. I used Papermill Direct Smooth White 300gsm cardstock.
Coloured in the floral image with Arteza Brush Pens in
I done 2 layers of colour to really make the flowers and colours stand out. Then I created a border of 4.5cm and masked off that line with masking tape so I could create a black background using Noir from Arteza Brush Pens.
Next I made another line of 6mm and covered in glue from a Glue Pen then poured Nuvo Pure Sheen Glitter in Glitter Rose Gold over it, tapped off the excess and let it dry. Adhered to card base and my card is completed.
I hope you like my card and it inspires you to get creative and inky.
Hi friends and Happy Tuesday! I am so happy I have a couple of cards I’m sharing with the new stencil.
This card is so simple to make, I chose Memento Dye Inks in Morocco and Potter’s Clay. Blended with my blending brushes, layered onto gold card and Kraft card base. Added sentiment and sequins to embellish.
For this card I chose Distress Inks in Chipped Sapphire, Evergreen Bough, Ripe Persimmon and Seedless Preserves.
I took the sentiments from the set Thanks My Friend for both cards.
For my last card I have used the Dolly Doily Stencil in a different way. I have used part of the Stencil to add pattern to my card.
Flowers are my favourite to colour and I absolutely love this set. I used my Promarkers to colour – French Navy, Cyan, Arctic Blue, Sky Blue, Powder Blue, Aubergine, Violet, Lilac, Lush Green, Forest Green and Meadow Green.
For the stencil I used Distress Ink in Tumbled Glass. Layered onto burgundy card and added some sequins to finish.
I hope you all like my cards, I would love to know your comments and Polka Dot Orchard SALE is still on (at time of this publishing).
Hi friends, today I have been able to play with the new stamp set range which has been designed by Lea Ingle Keisling. I am so excited with their new range as I was able to make 3 different cards in one day.
There are more of these Say It Slim stamp sets coming out very soon and I can’t wait to see what’s coming. These sets make excellent cards with lots of usability. Here are the cards that I’ve made today.
For the bottom two cards, I printed the stamp onto vellum. Created 2 backgrounds, one with balloons and the other with the bunting. Coloured in with all my blue shades of Promarker pens.
All these cards were simple to make and are suited for both male and female cards.
I hope you’ve got some inspiration from my projects today and I’d love to hear from you.
Hi friends, It’s Halloween and Fall New Release from Polka Dot Orchard and today I am showcasing 2 Halloween cards from 3 sets. These sets reminded me of Eerie Halloween movies so I wanted to eminate that on my cards.
For my first card I used the top two sets, I set up my scene on my photo editor and printed onto Neenah Classic Crest Solar White Card and coloured in the scene with my Arteza Brush Markers. Next, I got out some tracing paper and traced along the scene then cut out. This is to create a mask so I can ink blend the night scene sky. I used my Stick It Repositionable Tape to adhere my mask down.
Next I got my Distress Inks and Blender Brushes out, I used Chipped Sapphire, Peacock Feathers, Ripe Persimmon and Mustard Seed. I blended the inks until I was happy with my scene and let it dry.
Then I took a small amount (less than a pea size) of White Gouache and mixed with same small amount of water. I took my size 6 brush and created splatters as I wanted bright white to imitate stars.
I layered my card front onto orange and black card then adhered to my card base.
For my next card I used the set ‘scare in the air’. I used all the same distress inks except Chipped Sapphire.
I used Promarkers to colour my scene however for the bats and the dead tree I used watermark ink pen so I could emboss with Primary Ebony Black WOW embossing Powder, the crosses I used Primary Chartreuse Regular. To create my stars I used my white POSCA Pen as I didn’t have my skyline quite as dark for this card.
Layered my card front onto orange and black card then adhered to my card base.
I hope you like my eerie Halloween cards, remember to pop over to Polka Dot Orchard and grab some of the new sets while they are half price. That’s me for today, I have another Halloween card to make then onto Fall cards 🍁
Hi friends, one of my close friends got engaged last week and I am so happy for her. I wanted to make her a card that was a little bit different from me. I don’t very often use watercolours (that’s something that I want to change) and I just watched a YouTube video by Claire Manning from Thirsty Brush & Co and I thought, this is the one, join me for more details…..
I love the florals in this set and was looking forward to creating with them again. I started with stamping them onto good quality cardstock 300gsm using Versamark Ink then covered with WOW embossing powder in Metallic Platinum Super Fine then heatset it with my heat gun, then, I created a mask for my stamped image using the Diecut outline for this set and placed over the embossed image. I then positioned and stamped another image using versamark then embossed using WOW in Perissa and heatset it with heat gun.
Next I got my Winsor & Newton Watercolour Pans and set out doing some watercolouring. Then added some sprays of colour over the top and set aside to dry.
Next I added the sentiment Special Day in Jet Black Archival Ink, then stamped over with Versamark and added Wow clear embossing powder and set it with my heat gun.
I used the smallest Confetti Band and stamped a border along the top and bottom using Versamark Ink then covered in Wow Metallic Platinum Super Fine and heatset. Once the card had cooled down I layered onto Gold Mirra Card from Crafters Companion, Precious Metals range. Layered onto card base and that completed my Engagement Card.
Thanks for stopping by, stay safe and happy crafting.
Hi friends, today I’m sharing a card that I’ve made for a friend. She is getting a Shih Tzu Pup the same weekend that it’s her son’s birthday. She asked me to make a birthday card to give from “the pup” to her son. I looked through all my rubber and clear stamps looking for a Shih tzu stamp but to no avail, checked online too, there is lots of digital stamp shops out there and I couldn’t find a Shih Tzu stamp anywhere, So what could I do…..
I done a rough sketch of the outline of the dog, my friend sent me over a photo of her new pup then I coloured in with my Promarkers and coloured pencils.
The collar, biscuit, paws and fur baby love sentiment all come from a digital set from Graciellie Design called Fur Baby Love
The sentiment have a furry happy birthday and the small paw prints are from a cardmaking magazine and the stars stencil is from my stash.
I layered my card front onto Matt black card and adhered to my card base with double sided tape.
Thanks for stopping by. I would love to hear what you think of my card. Take care everyone.
I made this card a slimline card and I used Newton’s Nook Porthole Slimline Die. I used a circles stencil from my stash and I wanted to have same colour as my background cardstock so I decided to diecut my card using white cardstock then I used Wendy Vecchi Archival Ink in buttercup using a blender brush.
I used my Promarkers to colour ~ colours used ~ Poppy, Berry Red, Gold, Cool Grey 3, Tan, Caramel, Sandstone, Pink Carnation, Pale Pink & Blender Pen.
For the Sun Rays I used Spectrum Noir Metallic in Gold Plate
I used double sided tape to layer my Buttercup background onto base layer and foam tape for porthole front. Used a mixture of foam tape and glue for all my images. Fussy cut my sentiment.
Here is my completed card. Such an adorable set which can be humorous and great for kids too. Hope you all have a good, safe crafty day. Pop by soon.
Hi friends, thanks for stopping by today. I wanted to share with you a new digital set from Polka Dot Orchard
This set takes me to my old skool days! Loved wearing converse or chucks as we would call them. I was always torn between my chucks and doc martins. Ah! The good ole days! So needless to say I loved creating with this set and the sentiments fit it perfectly.
This card was very simple to put together, print, colour and splashes of gouache to finish.
Promarkers used ~ canary, tulip yellow, henna, walnut, cinnamon, cocoa, petrol blue, denim blue, tea green, grey green, ice grey 5,3,1 cool grey 3 and blender pen.
I used gouache in cobalt blue and permanent white. Finally for some gold stitching I used spectrum noir Metallic Gold Plate Pen.
Next, I took the main shade of yellow (tulip yellow) that I used for the sneakers and coloured a thin border around the white cardstock. I layered it together with my card front and adhered onto a 5×7” card base.
That’s it for today. Thanks so much for stopping by, this set is on sale at the moment (at time of posting blog). We have a End of Summer Splash Challenge over on Friends of PDO Group.
